At Self-Realization Fellowship’s Temples and nearly 500 meditation centers, located in 54 countries, students of Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings meet for inspirational and prayer services, meditation, and spiritual fellowship. The meetings include readings from Yogananda’s writings, as well as periods of meditation and devotional chanting. Several of our temples were established by Yogananda during his lifetime and have become places of pilgrimage for visitors from all parts of the world. Services at the temples are generally conducted by monks of the Self-Realization Order. Neighboring temples and shrines are as follows:
Retreats
Self-Realization Fellowship’s How-to-Live Retreat programs are open to anyone seeking spiritual renewal and who desires to leave behind the pressures of everyday life — if only for a few days — to deepen their awareness of the Divine. The daily Retreat programs provide, in the words of Paramahansa Yogananda, “a dynamo of silence where [you] may go for the exclusive purpose of being recharged by the Infinite.” See Retreats for more information about general and weekend retreats located in Southern California. Programs are open to both men and women. For men looking for a weekend or longer stay in a rural ashram setting, see Hidden Valley.
Youth Programs
Paramahansa Yogananda felt deeply for the welfare of children and took a lifelong interest in their all-around education. Carrying on in this tradition, Self-Realization Fellowship continues to offer a variety of How-to-Live School programs that teach young people how to live a balanced life of meditation and right activity. For more information, see Youth.
